As of the 5 a.m. National Hurricane Center update, Tropical Depression 4 is still hanging out over Cuba and is expected to reemerge into the eastern Gulf of Mexico west of Key West later this afternoon and likely become Tropical Storm Debby before continuing northeastward towards the western coast of Florida by Sunday evening.
– Max winds are near 30mph with higher gusts; rainfall amounts could be 10-15 inches throughout the storm which could last through late next week. If the current path holds, the biggest impact for NE FL/SE GA will be overnight Sunday into Monday morning. The next track update from the NHC will be at 11 a.m.
Locally, Saturday’s high temperatures will be in the 90s, with the heat index upwards of 105-107. Afternoon showers will develop along the sea breeze front for 50-60% of the area seeing some rain today. Winds will be gusty at times out of the S/SE. Showers will taper off by midnight. Rain and storms increase on Sunday as the tropical system moves northeastward through the Gulf of Mexico along the west coast of Florida.
