Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers are looking for the driver of a semi-truck suspected in a hit-and-run that killed a 78-year-old Bolivar man.
TUSCARAWAS COUNTY , Ohio - Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the driver of a semi-truck suspected in a hit-and-run that killed a 78-year-old Bolivar man.
According to a release from OSHP, the semi was going north on IR-77 on October 24 when he tried to make a U-turn through the median crossover near Strasburg. The release said a second vehicle, driven by 78-year-old Dennis Alsept, was also driving north in the left lane of IR-77.The semi pulled onto the beam in the median then continued going south on IR-77, the release said.
According to the release, Alsept was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. On October 31, he died from those injuries. OSHP is still investigating and discovered the semi drove east on U.S. 250 through Apple Creek, Mt. Eaton, Wilmot, and Strasburg before getting to IR-77 north.The New Philadelphia Post Troopers are looking for a red International Semi pulling a flatbed trailer. The semi has an after-market chrome front bumper and grille. The chrome bumper has lights lined across the bottom. The sleeper portion of the semi has 2 tinted windows located at the top. There is white lettering on the doors.
