[ICYMI] Tripartite alliance | Challenge to SACP's election decision
Sadtu's Nkosana Dolopi said,"each time we prepare to go to a national congress, all affiliates are given an opportunity to influence the policies and the direction of Cosatu and the affiliates are then allowed to come up with what regarded as motions and those motions are then presented to the General Secretary who will then circulate those motions to all affiliates 30 days before the congress.
"So this issue that we are discussing about supporting communist party or not supporting the community party did not arise in that process. There was no affiliate that submitted a motion to the general secretary such that he should be able to circulate that motion of that affiliation to all the affiliates in 30 days before the congress."
"So when we arrived at the congress, there was no such motion, to support or not to support a decision of the communist party to stand. And when we arrived at the congress there was also no resolution that will inform its affiliates that the party would have taken a decision to contest or not contest in 2024."
"So it's not about supporting or not supporting, it's about just following your internal, constitutional provisions each time we move towards taking a decision."
