Payton said Tuesday that Williams might have played against the Jets had it been a playoff game or similarly critical situation. Instead, they gave him a few extra days to get past the injury entirely. The second-year player returned to practice for the first time Tuesday and was a limited participant. The Broncos only had a walkthrough Wednesday and therefore provided estimations, but said Dulcich would have been a full participant.
Payton on Tuesday was bullish about Dulcich’s return timeline, saying he’d been “working his tail off” and that he was close to a return. That despite the second-year tight end dealing with multiple injuries to the same hamstring over the 18 months since the Broncos drafted him in the third round of the 2022 draft.
