EVAN WHEATON | PENNLIVECAMP HILL — Last year saw Trinity boys basketball come up just short in the District 3 Class 3A title game, but the pursuit for banner No. 20 is still raging on for a formidable Shamrocks contingent eager to get back to the Giant Center.Already ranked No.
Junior forward Reece Brown poured on 13 points off the bench and Liam Sexton tacked on 10 points, 8 points in the first half. Marcus Yeager , Dre Steele and Nick Smith rounded out the Shamrocks’ starting-five. Sexton, Schlager and Yeager all contributed to a 10-0 run to start and the Shamrocks only ballooned from there despite a shaky second quarter.
From there, Trinity laid it on in the second half. Powered by a 24-point third quarter and tightening the nuts and bolts on the defensive end of the floor, the Shamrocks pulled well away and led by as many as 30 points, 63-33 midway through the third stanza.“At halftime, we were not happy. Our defense in the second quarter was awful. gave us a nice talking to and we came around, got our offensive rebounding situation figured out and just kind of handled business.”“Tonight we got lazy.
