The construction tech company Trimble Inc. has moved its headquarters from Sunnyvale to Colorado, but isn't ditching Silicon Valley completely.personally welcomed the company as it officially designated its office in the northern Denver suburb of Westminster as its new base of operations.
"Trimble has been and will continue being such a strong and dynamic part of Colorado's tech community," Polis said Oct. 6."We are thrilled that you are deepening your roots in our state with the new headquarters." The company, which company provides GPS systems and other technologies for the construction and agricultural industries, was founded in California in the 1970s. It first opened a Colorado site in 2000 and the Westminster location is now the company's largest. Trimble operates more than 150 locations worldwide and reported revenues last quarter of $941.2 million. It employs about 12,000 people worldwide, about a third of whom are engineers. The company, which has offices in Sunnyvale at 935 Stewart Drive, will continue to keep its Silicon Valley presence. During the HQ-announcement event in Colorado, Painter said company chose to move its headquarters to Colorado because of its central location in the U.S. and the availability of tech workers in the greater Denver area. "Going back 20 years ago, we were looking for where we were going to find our workforce of the future," Painter said."We think we found a really unique spot — a place that's good to be, where you can attract people and where people want to stay. So a flag was planted here 20 years ago. We think this is a place where we continue to find good people." In addition to Trimble, several other tech companies recently moved their headquarters offices to the Denver area. San Francisco-based Virta Health, a health technology unicorn,"There's a lot of companies from California, Texas and Florida that are looking for a better business environment, a better place to live and an easier place to recruit talent," Polis said."They're finding Colorado is the best place to do business. We have a great quality of life, great universities, and it's a great place to attract talent from across the country."
