Tributes have been paid after the death of a Strabane woman in a crash on the A5 who has been described as cherished and adored by her family.
The 35-year-old is the 50th person to die on the A5 since the NI Assembly approved construction of a new dual carriageway in 2007, which has yet to be started.A funeral notice for Oonagh described her as a "cherished and adored daughter" of Kathleen and Seamus Burns and much loved sister of Katherine, Patrick and Teresa.
SDLP MLA Daniel McCrossan said the local community in Strabane was still coming to terms with the news of Oonagh’s death.“The thoughts and heartfelt prayers of this entire community are with the Burns family and all those affected by this difficult loss of another young life on the A5 road.A group campaigning for the proposed construction of the new A5 also sent its condolences to the Burns family.
“May she rest in peace. Oonagh’s passing marks 50 deaths now on the A5 since the road was passed by the Assembly.”
