Teammates and friends of the former Everton striker said he was one of 'loveliest, upbeat guys'
The former blues striker was instrumental in the 1998-99 season as his five goals in nine games saved the club from relegation. Campbell also scored the winner in a 1-0 win for Everton against Liverpool the following season.
Arsenal paid tribute to Campbell, writing: “We are devastated to learn that our former striker Kevin Campbell has died after a short illness. Campbell also helped Nottingham Forest secure promotion in 1998. The club said: “Everyone at Nottingham Forest is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Kevin Campbell.
“They called him ‘Super Kev’ because he was a beloved player. But he was Super Kev because he was a super bloke. RIP mate.”
