Erin Walsh-Lapean, a Harrisburg wife and mother of four boys, was shot on her Berryhill Street porch on June 28, 2021. She died two days later. The fate of three men charged in connection with the shooting death of a young Harrisburg mother in the presence of her six-year-old son was put in the hands of a Dauphin County jury late Thursday.
Walsh-Lapean’s son, now eight, played with toy cars as he sat at the witness stand this week, testifying he saw a car pull up in front of their home and then two men began shooting. According to the scenario laid out by prosecutors, Scott beat up a gang associate of Evans, who later retaliated by shooting at Haynes’ girlfriend. That prompted Scott and Haynes to go looking for Evans on June 28, 2021, eventually finding him at the home of Walsh-Lapean, whose husband is a friend and where he often spent time.
She further told jurors that Haynes and Scott came with premeditated intent to kill Evans, and the fact that a bystander rather than their intended target got killed doesn’t shield them from first-degree murder. They further cited a lack of physical evidence such as DNA evidence or fingerprints found on shell casings.
