Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will be back in a courtroom today but not to represent the state. He will defend himself against accusations of fraud.

The charges claim Paxton recruited investors for a Dallas-based tech company but did not tell them he was being paid by the company to do so.After a brief hearing, a trial date was set for April 15 in Houston. Pre-trial will begin in February. Prosecutors told reporters the “playing field is level” in this case, unlike, they say, the impeachment trial in which Paxton was acquitted earlier this year.EDITOR'S NOTE: The video above is from a report before Monday's hearing.
