The trial for three individuals charged in the shooting death of a three-year-old boy in Cleveland's Stockyards neighborhood in 2023 is set to commence. Devonte Parker, Juan Davis, and Katherine Treadway face numerous charges, including aggravated murder and murder, stemming from the incident which claimed the life of Luis Diaz.
CLEVELAND , Ohio - The jury trial for two men and one woman charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a three-year-old Cleveland boy in the city\u2019s Stockyards neighborhood in 2023, is scheduled to begin Monday in front of Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Shannon Gallagher.
Devonte Parker, 30, Juan Davis, 35, and Katherine Treadway, 31, all face charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, involuntary manslaughter, attempted murder, having weapons under disability, and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises. Luis Diaz died after being struck by a stray bullet on Sept. 28, 2023 in the area of W. 66th Street and Denison Avenue. According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley, Treadway was arguing with a man outside of their duplex. After the argument, she allegedly called her boyfriend, Davis, and moved her vehicle out of the driveway. A few minutes later, Davis drove to a nearby street and Parker and a 16-year-old boy exited the vehicle, said O’Malley. Parker, armed with a handgun, and the teenager, armed with a rifle, ran towards the home and fired multiple shots from across the street, before fleeing, said O’Malley. One of the bullets struck the three-year-old boy, who was in a car seat in his mother\u2019s car, and another struck the man Treadway had been arguing with.The male victim was struck in the foot and survived his injuries
