Chief Greg Lang and a firefighter have both resigned from Monroe Township
MONROE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Tri-State fire chief resigned Thursday following two suspensions and allegations regarding his conduct while in the role. Monroe Township Fire Chief Greg Lang , 43, submitted his resignation to the township Board of Trustees, who formally accepted, according to township fiscal officer Candace Forder.
Lang was accused of exchanging nearly 4,000 text messages with a firefighter, Hope Rodriguez, who was also placed on leave before resigning, using his township-issued cell phone. When concerns were brought up regarding the relationship, Lang wiped the phone before turning it in when placed on leave. FOX19 NOW has confirmed that at the time, the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office examined Lang’s township-issued cell phone and found nothing criminal.
“The S.A. F.E. Unit at the sheriff’s office was requested by the assistant prosecutor who represents Monroe Township to analyze a Monroe Township cell phone that was issued to the fire chief, Greg Lang,” Chief Deputy Mike White said Wednesday.
“At this point, that is the extent of our involvement. The result of the analysis was turned over to the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office. The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office is not investigating the Monroe Township fire chief at this time. ”Greg Lang, 43, was charged with domestic violence in December 2025, pleaded not guilty and was acquitted, court records show.
New Richmond police responded to an argument just before 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 at a home on Compass Court between Lang and his family over his alleged affair with a female co-worker, police records show. Lang pleaded not guilty to domestic violence charges, was acquitted and returned to the job in March, according to court and township records.
