Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride got his moment in the end zone in his 15th career NFL game.
McBride had to reach back for the ball, then managed to stretch the ball over the goal line before his knees hit the ground. He was mobbed by happy teammates.
"It is something I will remember for the rest of my life, that was a very special moment," McBride added. A season-ending injury to veteran Zach Ertz opened the door for McBride to take over as the top pass-catching tight end. Maxx Williams and Stephen Anderson, who didn't play due to an illness Sunday, have not had significant roles on offense. So if a Cardinals tight end is going to be targeted, it's more than likely to be McBride.
"He’s getting better. I knew with more reps, it would expedite his progress. He’s got a long way to go but the skill set is there," Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said."I think he needs a full offseason and then things will really slow down for him. If you can get [Zach] Ertz and him on the field together next year in that 12 package, it can be a good weapon for us.”
