Sundevils QB throws four touchdown passes, runs for another score as Mt. Carmel breezes past visiting Patrick Henry 35-7
Mt. Carmel High quarterback Trevor Taumoepeau had a spectacular night, throwing touchdown passes of 6, 15, 11, and 26 yards and rushing for a 16-yard score. The five touchdowns were more than enough to guide the Sun Devils to a 35-7 defeat of visiting Patrick Henry on Friday night.
“Penalties are going to be the difference in competing in league and Division 2,” Westling said. “We can’t have those self-inflicted penalties if we are going to be our best. There is a very small margin for error.” Mt. Carmel had a much easier path to victory this week than it did last week at home against Otay Ranch, which ended in a 28-27 Sundevils victory at the wire.The Patriots, who lost 50-7 in their first game to St. Augustine, struggled in the first half to generate sustainable ball control against the Sundevils. The Patriots have lost their first two games by a combined 85-14.
Less than five minutes later, Mt. Carmel scored on a 15-yard pass over the middle from Taumoepeau to receiver Conor Bananal for a 21-0 Sundevils lead.
