Tredwells, Covent Garden
in Seven Dials provides a bit of solace from the frantic foot-fall of shoppers and theatre-goers outside. It would be easy to walk past it, sandwiched between well, a sandwich bar and an office block, but for the vine-entwined terrace outside.
The service is friendly and unassuming, the menu is varied but informed, and the vibe is relaxed yet buzzy - attracting a family-friendly crowd of foodies with good taste. Unlike lots of off-shoot menus, this one offered up some of the restaurant's bestsellers and had enough variety on it to keep the table happy.
A crispy pork croquette starter was perfectly crunchy and the sweet flavours of the meat were contrasted beautifully by the brightly coloured piccalilli and cauliflower that came with it.
