started off with plenty of star power in the Cactus Jack Foundation HBCU Celebrity Softball Classic on Thursday night at Minute Maid Park.
Travis Scott's celebrity softball game and home run derby put big-time former athletes back in uniform with the likes of Adrian Peterson, Andre Johnson, Terrell Owens, Vince Young, Tracy McGrady, Steve Francis, Andre Dawson, Gary Sheffield and Jose Canseco all joining the Houston rapper on the field. There also were plenty of rappers out there trying to be ballplayers, including Scott himself, as well as Bun B, Scarface, Paul Wall and Trae tha Truth.
As for the results on the field: Scott's Cream Team won the game and the 58-year-old Canseco beat Sheffield, Owens and former Yankees All-Star Nick Swisher in the home run derby. The event helps support Scott's Cactus Jack Foundation, which provides scholarships for students at HBCUs. Scotts, also known as Cactus Jack, is the title sponsor for the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic, which is a nine-game invitational at Minute Maid Park with three games each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The field is made up entirely of HBCUs — Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Southern, Grambling, Jackson State and Mississippi Valley State.
