"Our intention is to kick off the project by the end of 2023 so it's best if the contractors are appointed by then. This way, construction can commence by early 2024," he was quoted as saying. "Penang hasn't seen many mega projects in recent years and this would certainly provide beneficial spillover effects for small, medium and large-scale contractors alike.
He believes SRS makes an ideal PDP, given it is a subsidiary of Gamuda which has strong credentials and an excellent track record in delivering projects on time and on budget. He believes in the efficiency of the PDP model which eliminates the risk of cost overruns and provides a single point of accountability in terms of budget, delivery programme and quality of work.
