The Coalition has hit out at a new framework implemented by the NSW government for all public sector projects which are now required to undertakeLast year, the NSW government engaged a gender equality institute to assist departments in making"better-informed and equitable" decisions when designing policy, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The eLearning modules, in which sex is described as"biological traits associated with male, female and intersex people" and gender as a “social construct”, will take employees 38 minutes to complete. “There are obvious areas where simple common sense would suggest a new policy proposal may impact women differently than men but to require time and resources to be wasted searching the international literature for an elusive gender impact is absurd," he said.
"Instead of focusing on sexist cycleways or transphobic bridges, the Minns Labor government should focus on getting infrastructure built," Mr Tudehope said. For instance, investment in a new bike path may appear gender neutral, but women would need better lighting and exit points due to additional safety concerns.
