Managing Executive for the Eastern Region for Transnet National Ports Authority, Moshe Motlohi, says they have introduced a booking system for truck drivers to ease the congestion into the coal terminal.

“We have reached out to people who are using this spot to export the product that we need to book for the trucks before they come. In that way, it will bring about order in terms of how many trucks are dispatched from various destinations to the port. We then broke down this capacity of 1200 per hour, that every hour we should handle 50 trucks.

Limpopo police say the gunmen stopped the truck drivers and ordered them to disembark their vehicles. The gunmen proceeded to burn the trucks before fleeing the scene. Ashes and wreckages are what remains of Monday ordeal. One of the three trucks is still on the road with its load of chrome deposits.The R547 road between Sekhukhune and Lydenburg has been partially closed following the burning of the trucks. The road is one of the main economic routes, connecting Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. This has caused delays in traffic as motorists are forced to use one part of the road.
