Mpumalanga police have launched a manhunt after Transnet lost fuel worth R800 000 after vandals cut a hole in their underground pipeline.
Police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said a hole estimated to be four metres long was dug directly into the pipeline, resulting in litres of fuel being lost.
He said police were informed of the incident after security guards noticed an unknown liquid heavily spraying at Tau Farm on Thursday at about 17:15. Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has urged community members to refrain from damaging essential infrastructure.
