A train has derailed in southern New South Wales after a collision with a grain truck this morning.

Fire and Rescue NSW said emergency services were called to the Canola Way between Old Junee and Marrar, north of Wagga Wagga at about 8:45am.

The collision occurred at a level crossing on a bend in the road on what the ABC understands is a grain branch-line.Two have been taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, one with minor injuries and the other with suspected broken ribs. Fire and Rescue NSW Zone Commander Superintendent Stewart Alexander said police, paramedics and volunteers firefighters were also called to the scene."[There is] significant damage to the truck and there are … at least 10 carriages [that have been damaged].Mr Alexander said would have been a nerve-wracking situation for the drivers.Mr Alexander said firefighters would be checking the train for any fuel leaks.

"We'll do our best to render the site safe — whether that's decanting fuel or containing or recovering spilt fuel, and any other load that may have been on the train itself," he said.Mr Alexander said the salvage operation would be significant. "I imagine railway authorities will need a heavy crane and heavy lifting equipment to remove the damaged rolling stock and locomotives," he said.

Premier has been ‘buck-passing’ healthcare issues: Chris MinnsPremier has been ‘buck-passing’ healthcare issues: Chris MinnsNSW Opposition leader Chris Minns claims Premier Dominic Perrottet has constantly been “buck-passing” issues related to the state’s healthcare. Mr Minns said the Premier’s main response to healthcare issues is calling them a “federal government responsibility”. “This election can’t be about buck-passing, and what you have seen from New South Wales Labor is policy initiatives and ideas and money on the table to make a difference for what we can control,” he said during a media conference on Monday. “They have had 12 years to fix chronic problems in the emergency departments and ICU units in New South Wales hospitals, they have had many months, many years, to deal with the 100,000 people that are on the elective surgery waiting list. “And frankly, blaming it all on the Commonwealth government is not going to fix a thing.”
