Trai Hume has spoken of his pride after being handed the captain's armband for Northern Ireland's Nations League clash with Luxembourg this evening.
He said: “I’m proud, really. I know my family will be happy about it. I won’t let it affect me too much, I want to focus on the game and help my team-mates out on the pitch. Michael O'Neill has said he will look at the captaincy situation during the forthcoming internationals following Jonny Evans' international retirement. The Northern Ireland boss highlighted Hume's qualities which he feels makes him a good fit for the role. "It wasn’t a very difficult or challenging decision that I had to make, to be honest. For this, it’s not only important that we use this tournament wisely for progression and for the development of the team, but to get to decisions on that and see how people are.
