A 18-month-old girl has died after being hit by a vehicle in northwest Houston Tuesday.

Northwest and VCD officers are investigating a fatal crash 5900 Guhn. 18 month old female is deceased at the hospital. Driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. 202According to Commander Michael Chaney with HPD, a driver was entering the parking lot of the HomeTowne Studios at the location. “They were driving through the parking lot and they turned around the corner to go to the back side of the parking lot. As they turned to go to the back side of the parking lot, unbeknownst to them there was a child playing in the parking lot and the driver struck the child,” Chaney said. Chaney said the driver felt a bump and got out to see what they had hit. When they got out, they saw the child on the ground. The driver rendered aid to the child until paramedics arrived.Chaney said the driver showed no signs of intoxication. He said he knows there was an adult around when the child was playing, but he is unsure exactly where they were right now. “I do not know where the adult was at this time, I know there was an adult around but exactly where I don’t know yet,” he said.“It’s my understanding there is some video on the back side, we are working on downloading that and we will start reviewing that probably later tonight or in the morning,” he said. It is unknown if any charges will be filed at this time. That decision will be up to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office following the investigation. “Very sad, exactly the facts that led up to it, we’re still working on that, but definitely prayers to the family, and a overall tragic scene,” Chaney said.Christian Terry covered digital news in Tyler and Wichita Falls before returning to the Houston area where he grew up.
