Emergency services were called to Wood Street at around 11.30am yesterday . Lancashire Constabulary said they found a teenage girl who was 'unresponsive' at the scene.
She was rushed to hospital and sadly pronounced dead despite the best efforts of the emergency services. Police said her death is not being treated as suspicious their thoughts are with the girl's loved ones.In a statement, a force spokesperson said: "We were called to Wood Street, Darwen, at 11.33am. Emergency services have attended and found a teenage girl unresponsive.
"She was taken to hospital where she sadly died. Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this distressing time. "Her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed onto HM Coroner in due course."
