County officials advise that entering or leaving neighborhoods affected by the construction may be easier outside of “rush hour” periods, which can aid in reducing travel times and overall congestion. The county also said that once the shift is in effect, construction work to install ramps, which will provide access to the new lanes, will begin between the old and new roadways. “St. Johns County appreciates the public’s patience as the project continues and looks forward to delivering the improved roadway upon completion,” officials said in a news release. The widening project, which has $30.5 million allocated toward it from the 2025 FY budget, begins at the four-laning at Cimarrone Boulevard and extends west a little over 2 miles to the intersection of Greenbriar Road.Aydian joined News4JAX as a digital producer in September 2024.
