A new study reveals how the 2018 US-China trade war impacted supply chains. While transactions between US buyers and Chinese suppliers dropped by over 18%, innovative and socially responsible Chinese firms were more likely to retain US buyers. The research suggests that suppliers should prioritize innovation and corporate social responsibility (CSR) to withstand future trade wars, while buyers should consider supplier dependence in risk assessments.
