The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) urges a review of the labor advisory on work suspension during weather disturbances to prioritize workers' health and safety while addressing their financial needs.
THE Trade Union Congress of the Philippines said that now is an ideal time to revisit the existing labor advisory on work suspension due to weather disturbances to ensure the health and safety of workers while addressing their financial needs .
Estrada, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Labor, Employment, and Human Resources, also pointed out that according to the Dole advisory, workers can opt not to go to work because of the risks associated with extreme heat without worrying about facing sanctions.However, the same Dole advisory states that workers who choose not to work due to extreme heat may not receive their usual pay for that day.
