NJ Advance Media for NJ.comFriday and Saturday’s track and field group championships have been moved to a one-day meet on Saturday due to poor air quality from the Canada wildfires, according to an announcement from the NJSIAA on Thursday afternoon.
The meet is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. and will run through the afternoon and into the early evening. “Based on the Air Quality Reports we are receiving and the safety of our athletes, officials and spectators, the NJSIAA Group Track Meets at Delsea and Franklin scheduled for Friday and Saturday will be moved to a one-day meet on Saturday, June 10,” NJSIAA Track and Field Tournament Director Al Stumpf wrote in an email. “The Start time of the meet will be 9:30 a.m. for running and field events. All digital tickets that have been purchased for Friday will also be valid for Saturday.
The NJSIAA has revealed a new schedule of events that will go in the following order – 3,200, 100, 800, 400 hurdles, 4x100, 400 dash, 100 hurdles, 110 hurdles, 4x800, 200, 1,600, 4x400.The NJSIAA didn’t announce changes in location or group structure. Groups 1, 4 and Non-Public A will still compete at Franklin High School and Groups 2, 3 and Non-Public B will be at Delsea High School.
