Toyota Boshoku is selling an expensive computer chair that's made from a powered Toyota Crown seat.
Toyota Boshoku, the automaker's subbrand focused on seating and interior components, is offering a new limited-edition desk chair. The Crown Seat Desk Chair takes an actual seat from a Toyota Crown, including the heating and cooling elements, and transforms it into usable office furniture.
According to a report by Tom's Hardware, the Crown Seat Desk Chair will be limited to just 70 units for Japan and costs roughly $3500. The new chair from Toyota Boshoku takes a Toyota Crown's front seat and transports it directly to your desk. It's not just an office chair designed to look like the Crown's seat, either. It is a Crown seat. Officially titled the Crown Seat Desk Chair, it retains the car seat's heating and cooling functions, which are powered by a portable battery stored under the cushion.
The Crown Seat Desk Chair even comes with a seatbelt buckle. Well, sort of. Since you won't have any serious risk of crashing your office chair, the Crown Seat cleverly integrates a functional USB-C port into the seatbelt buckle. Of course, as a car seat, the Crown Seat comes with reclining, lifting, and tilting functions, as well as adjustable lumbar support.
The limited-edition office chair was built in collaboration with the Japanese furniture maker, Itoki, and is exclusive to Toyota's 'THE CROWN' stores located in Japan. It's being sold in limited quantities, with the Tom's Hardware report showing that production will be held to just 70 units. According to the same report, the chair will cost the equivalent of $3500. ➡️ Skip the lot.
