: Peppa Pig owner Entertainment One has been snapped up by U.S. toymaker Hasbro for $4 billion in the latest acquisition of a U.K.-listed firm by a foreign company taking advantage of a weakened pound.
Hasbro, which owns popular franchises including My Little Pony, Monopoly, Scrabble and Cluedo, said the deal would expand its “family-oriented storytelling” portfolio. Chairman and CEO Brian Goldner added the move will expand eOne’s entertainment portfolio to global screens. The move will see the firm gain access to fast-growing TV showCandian firm Entertainment One’s shares climbed 30% on the news, to 574p. The deal will see shareholders receive £5.60 per share.
