This text explores the opinions on Toy Story 4, analyzing its narrative necessity, character development, and overall impact compared to previous installments.
Toy Story 4 is good, but don't think that it really needs to exist from a narrative standpoint. Can't believe how gorgeous 3D animation has become since the first one came out. While I still don't think this film was necessary to make, nor do I think any future sequels will be either, it was still an enjoyable enough watch in theatres. I was entertained, which is more than I can say for a lot of other sequels. That being said, I really couldn't get emotionally invested in the story.
Toy Story 3 had such a perfect ending, and knowing that these characters can just come back at any time didn't really make me feel sad about Woody's final choice.I really just didn't like this one. The ending to three was such a beautiful little wrap up of not only Andy moving on, but Woody finally understanding what it meant to be there for the kid that needs him most, which was now Bonnie. It was emotional and heartwrenching... then it was just completely thrown out by this movie. Woody's decision at the end of this movie feels so out of place for his character and not in the way of growth. His growth leads him to his decisions at the end of 3, this just completely rewrote his character it felt like. I loved Forky and some of the other new characters, but man the ending of this one REALLY soured this film for me. I actually welcome TS5 in hopes that it will fix this mess.Toy Story 4 didn't have to - and maybe shouldn't - have existed, but it honestly seems to have something to say about growing up. The Toy Story movies aimed to grow up with their audience, and now it's firmly talking to parents rather than kids, discussing how an empty nest is an opportunity, not the end.Toy Story 4 was better than I expected! Forky is a funny addition to the Toy Story universe and although I do miss Andy, I think the toys moving on to live with Bonnie and receiving a new home was a great twist to continue the franchis
