The president of the San Francisco NAACP held a town hall on Sunday to speak out against a series of racist text messages received by students in the school district. Similar texts were also received by Black men, women and students in other parts of the country, and are being investigated by the FBI.

They have every right to be afraid," said Rev. Amos Brown, president of the San Francisco Chapter of the NAACP.

Some instructed the recipient to show up at an address at a particular time "with your belongings" to "pick cotton," while others didn’t include a location.Some of them mentioned the incoming presidential administration. The Trump campaign has strongly denied any connection to the messages.
