A 19-storey tower block housing 120 apartments could soon be added to Preston's skyline

The colossal structure would be bigger than anything else currently in the city centre and would only be eclipsed by the planned Foresters Hall structure which has yet to be built but does have planning permission. Portergate Developments is behind the new plans which would see the new tower built on the corner of Moor Lane and Walker Street.

No car parking is included in the proposal, with focus instead of cycle parking and the links to the bus and rail stations which are a one minute and ten minute walk respectively. The building itself will involve a wider shape on the lowest five stories with a hexagonal tower holding the other 14 floors full of apartments with inset balconies.

The development has been designed as a landmark building which will have a close relationship to projects completed for the UCLan Campus Masterplan. Portergate, which was behind the £18m Friargate Court development, says it contribute to the regeneration of the city centre. It concludes: "The proposal will deliver a landmark building in a gateway location within the Adelphi Quarter of Preston City Centre overlooking Adelphi/University Square and UCLan’s prestigious new campus buildings. The proposal will deliver significant benefits.
