Tourist slams stunning Rydal Caves with claims they are 'full of vermin' and 'all manner of filth'
Rydal Caves is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Lake District, but it clearly isn't everyone's cup of tea, according to one Trip Advisor review.
This famous Lakeland beauty spot is actually man-made, as a result of slate quarrying. When you get to the top you can even walk into the cave using the stepping stones. However, it would seem that not everyone shares the view that it is a beautiful spot to visit. One person took to TripAdvisor to liken the area to a "plague".
Another person wasn't struck by its beauty either. The review said: "Too many people and it's not worth it, even if they filmed Witcher here. cathedral cave in Langdale valley or caves at Hodge close in tilberthwaite much better. or if you want a proper walk and a cave with a view there is the priesthole cave in Dovedale."
Another said: "I have been coming to Rydal Caves for years, usually on other walks in the area and call here whilst passing. It's a hit with most people, adults are intrigued by it and children want to walk inside. It's usually always busy, but it is a relatively short free walk with some stunning views from the top and parking close by."
