Teenage sensation Lucas Bergvall was surprisingly substituted off for James Maddison during Tottenham's match against Newcastle United, despite a strong performance. The substitution sparked anger from Spurs fans who applauded the other changes but voiced their displeasure at Bergvall's removal.
Ange Postecoglou faced the wrath of Tottenham fans after golden boy Lucas Bergval l was surprisingly subbed off against Newcastle United.
TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher predicted that Spurs fans wouldn't be happy as he introduced the substitutions live on air. He said: "This is interesting, Ally. I'm not surprised by two of the changes. Bissouma is coming on for Sarr and Son is coming on for Werner. As Bergvall's number 15 went up on the board, Fletcher continued: "It's just interesting to see how the crowd react to Bergvall going off." Unsurprisingly, jeers erupted from various sections of the stadium as he pointed out: "They are not happy. I am not surprised, I have to say. It doesn't look like he needs to come off but is he only 18, he knows him better than anybody so it's certainly not reflective of his performance.
