According to BERNAMA, a swirling wind phenomenon that resembles a tornado took place in Lahad Datu, Sabah on March 15. Members of the public who saw the violent winds quickly took videos of the occurrence and shared them on social media platforms such as Facebook. One of the business owners in the area, Chia Tet Vui, 62, when interviewed by BERNAMA, said that the weather at that time was cloudy.“I have been in this area for 31 years and this is the first time my family and I saw something like this. I was genuinely afraid.”Lahad Datu district police chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad confirmed that the swirling winds did happen and that several zinc roof sheets from the buildings in the area were torn and carried off by the wind.
