Tories retain power in Ribble Valley despite losses as committee structure is laid out

Ribble Valley Borough Council has confirmed the ratios of different political groups on various committees for the next 12 months following the local election.

Conservative Coun Simon Hore added: “We have worked with Lib-Dems in recent years and its disappointing that they decided they could not work along with us now. We do acknowledge that voters have moved away from the two main parties in the Ribble Valley. But we promise we will work towards progress.”

Councillors looked at a chief executive’s report showing different committees with proposals for seats allocated in-line with political balance rules. For Planning & Development, the allocation was slightly different with seven Conservatives, three Lib-Dems, three Labour, one Independent Group councillor and one Independent. No Green councillor was allocated for a planning committee seat.
