Boris Johnson could lead his party into a wipeout. A new poll has found the prime minister has become toxic in the key battleground seats where he secured a majority just two-and-half years ago.

The prime minister could become the first in history to be unseated by his own constituents is on course to lose his seat at the next general election and lead his party into a wipeout.

In all but three of them, Mr Johnson’s party is on course to lose – including in his own seat of Uxbridge and South Ruislip. Ashfield, Bassetlaw, and Dudley North would remains blue but other high profile 2019 gains like Burnley, Blyth Valley, Leigh, and Stoke-on-Trent North would all go red again. James Johnson, a former Downing Street adviser during Theresa May’s tenure, predicted the actual situation could be a lot worse for the Tories.

Mr Johnson has weathered the storm created by Sue Gray’s report into lockdown breaches in Downing Street so far but there is discontent within the party.
