The wide man marked his Reds debut in devastating fashion by coming off the bench to score a last minute winger against Queen's Park in the Premier Sports Cup
The big-money signing has made an instant impact at Aberdeen, netting a debut winner against Queen’s Park on Sunday. Thelin decided to pay Aberdeen’s second highest fee, £860,000, to land the Finland Under-21 cap from HJK Helsinki. And the Dons expect the door to the full Finland squad to open if he continues to impress at Pittodrie. Thelin said: “Hopefully, I think the environment here can help him take that responsibility.
Thelin believes Keskinen has all the raw materials but what impressed him was his desire to move to Scotland. He could have gone to better leagues for more money but chose the Scottish Premiership for his development. Thelin claimed: “We want the players to really come here. “He showed a lot of passion to come here to Aberdeen. It is important that when you sign players that they really want to come here. I saw him before when I was working in Sweden and also the staff here knew him, so it was a good mix. It was a good mix of experience around him.”
Thelin is still waiting to see if Millwall will green-light Dons’ bid to land former Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet on loan.
