A surprising winner was chosen as the best Aussie town of the year. Beating out some beloved foodie spots, and natural wonders for the yearly honour, according to Wotif.The Victorian town of Echuca sits alongside the mighty Murray river. In good times and bad, the river is a part of life in the Victorian town. Despite being battered by flooding in the summer, the town made the top 10 list for the year.Orange is a favourite of NSW foodies and sommeliers.
Rich in history, New Norfolk is Tasmania's third-oldest settlement, founded by evacuees relocated from Norfolk Island. It is home to one of the oldest pubs in the country, and claims to host the oldest Anglican church in the country.Queensland locals love the town for its easygoing nature, while nationally it's famed for the rum distillery based here. Sprawling sugar cane fields and the world famous great barrier reef are the town's natural assets.
Perfectly situated at the foot of the Aussie Alps and on the banks of the Mighty Murray River, Albury is a top pick for foodies, nature lovers and adventure fans.
