LHP Kyle Harrison leads all of the minor leagues with 116 strikeouts and has a 2.76 ERA between High-A and Double-A.
PHOENIX — Add another notch to the meteoric rise of the local left-hander who profiles as the Giants’ top pitching prospect.
Kyle Harrison, San Francisco’s third-round pick in 2020 out of De La Salle, was named to the MLB All-Star Futures Game as part of an early group of eight selectees announced on Wednesday. Harrison, 20, owns a 2.76 ERA in 14 starts between High-A and Double-A and, with 116 strikeouts, has punched out more batters than any other pitcher in the minor-leagues this season. After posting a 1.55 ERA with 59 strikeouts over 29 innings with High-A Eugene, he earned a promotion to Double-A Richmond, where he has whiffed 57 in 36⅓ innings with a 3.72 ERA.
“Huge news. Excited to represent the Giants organization,” Harrison told reporters in Richmond. “Couldn’t be happier. … To kind of get recognized as that is cool. It’s a cool accomplishment to have. I’m looking forward to it.”
