WHAT A WIN! The Mariners came into tonight’s game 51-0 when they had a lead after 7 innings. They leave 51-1… 😏

Cleveland Guardians vs. Seattle Mariners, Aug. 27, 2022SEATTLE — Sparked by the top of their lineup, the Guardians rallied for three runs in the eighth inning Saturday to pull out a 4-3 comeback win against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park and give Zach Plesac his first win in nearly three months.

Josh Naylor’s RBI ground out and an RBI sacrifice fly by Andrés Giménez turned Cleveland’s deficit into a one-run lead, and manager Terry Francona’s bullpen took care of the rest. Plesac pitched well, allowing just three Seattle hits and no walks in seven innings, but all three balls left the park for solo home runs. Eugenio Suarez launched a solo blast to left in the second and rookie Julio Rodriguez hit one just out of Kwan’s reach at the wall.

Kwan, who reached base three times, including a pair of hits, opened the game with a 12-pitch at-bat against Mariners starter Luis Castillo that ended with a base hit to right. Castillo allowed one run on four hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts, but exited after the sixth because his pitch count had climbed to 115.
