Various levels of government and state-owned entities are hard at work in preparation for the closing of the financial year at the end of March. While some are focused on finalising outstanding tenders, others are issuing new requests in anticipation of the 2023/24 budget allocation.

In the request, the DBSA says it is looking for a professional service provider to assist with an infrastructure investment planning research study of the digital infrastructure/ICT sector in South Africa. The successful bidder will assess terms of reference, evaluate bids, provide inputs in steering committees, as well as thought leadership and quality assurance on the study.

“This will produce an accurate assessment of the public and private investments required through to 2050 to achieve those goals, with milestones for 2030 and 2040 as well,” it says. The State Information Technology Agency returns this week with another request for the justice sector. In this tender, SITA is advertising for the supply of ICT network equipment with associated maintenance and support for the Integrated Justice System.

In its second notice, Transnet is calling for an access control and time and attendance system for a period of five years. The solution is to be rolled out across the “entire Transnet estate”. The company currently has approximately 55 000 employees across operating divisions that will require access.
