The ANCWL wants the party to change its constitution, to allow for two deputy presidents and deputy secretary-generals. Of the eight positions, the ANCWL wants four to be women.
He proposed that the second deputy president position follow the present procedure, which involves nomination from branches and then voted on by delegates at the elective conference. She explained that the proposal would not be adopted at the policy conference, but she believed it would be"taken to the December conference for consideration".
Speaking at the funeral of the late ANC deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte, Ramaphosa said to honour her legacy the party should meet the 50% gender parity goal.
