A top Democratic influencer who was among the first to predict that the expected “red wave” in 2022 would crash well short cited on Monday new indications that the GOP is facing another pushback in MAGA-leaning states.
“The central dynamic in American politics today is a growing understanding and rejection of greater MAGA,” Simon Rosenberg said in his Substack newsletter, Hopium Chronicles.“We are seeing more active public resistance to MAGA — in Tennessee, in Wisconsin, in Israel, at Disney. People are saying enough. They’ve gone too far,” he wrote.
The sense that Republicans have gone too far, have gone a little crazy is the single most powerful force in American politics today; and it is reinforced, daily, by national Rs and local ones, further pushing them away from normie voters.— Simon Rosenberg April 17, 2023 While former President Donald Trump and Gov.
For example, he cited a Navigator survey that found House Republicans were underwater on issues such as the economy and guns. Actually, they had higher negative than positive ratings on 17 topics. “Just a little over one-in-three Americans approve of Republicans in Congress while 59% disapprove,” the survey read.He also cited local school board losses as a signal of some pushback against the MAGA agenda and a possible movement for Democrats to seize on after the 2022 elections.
“Republicans have entered a political doom loop — they have in fact become far too extreme,” Rosenberg argued.
