A secretive process to find the country's next top cop is underway, and sources say among the several top generals vying for command is Khehla Sitole's deputy, Francinah Vuma. | vercingetorics wicks_jeff
Vuma has been a deputy national commissioner since she was promoted by Sitole in 2017, one of his first orders of business after his own installation by then-president Jacob Zuma.
News24 can reveal that in searching for a replacement for Sitole, select generals were identified by the Presidency in an ex-cathedra process far from public view, and that interviews began behind closed doors on Monday.
