In more than eight decades in the restaurant business, Steven Pizzini ’s family has framed the narrative of the San Antonio Tex-Mex scene. His aunt Ernestine Pizzini Chapa started Teka Molino in 1938, and his father, Herman Pizzini , opened the first Taco Hut in 1958. Steven contributed a chapter of his own when he opened Lala ’s Gordita ’s on the South Side in 2019. That chapter will come to a close Dec.
San Antonio’s Top 10 Lala’s has shared the struggles of the restaurant life on social media, drawing notes of support and encouragement.
