Just weeks after trading Italian concepts with its sister restaurant Allora , the Top 10 Italian restaurant Arrosta at Pearl has closed. A spokesperson for Arrosta confirmed the restaurant’s last service was June 29. Allora will remain open, the spokesperson said. Arrosta arrived at the Oxbow Building at Pearl in February 2022, the more rustic arm of a one-two Italian punch from restaurateur Peter Selig , who opened the Amalfi Coast seafood-focused Allora a month later just a block away at Pearl .
Top 10 Italian restaurants Originally under the direction of veteran chef Chris Carlson, Arrosta fumbled with its identity at first, tangled in a web of takeaway lunches and limited menus. Later guided by chef Robbie Nowlin, Arrosta forged a new persona as a casual all-day cafe with handmade pasta, robust main courses, a bold Italian wine list and a daily three-course menu option. The Arrosta concept was strong enough to make No. 8 our list of the Top 10 Italian restaurants in San Antonio.
Allora shoulders the weight of expectation in San Antonio In late February of this year, the restaurants announced they would essentially swap concepts, with Allora serving Italian comfort food and Arrosta adopting a Mediterranean seafood focus. Allora’s menu continues to reflect the transition, open daily for lunch and dinner.
