In a fall season packed full of comedians, highlights include D.L. Hughley, Ben Schwartz, Gabriel Iglesias and Trevor Noah.
Once you start poring over the upcoming fall comedy season, it quickly becomes an overwhelming embarrassment of riches. Apologies in advance to all the worthy acts and artists, from Second City to the Laugh Factory, that didn’t wind up on this list. To be as fair as possible, let’s skip some of the folks who made last year’s list, including Ron Funches and Maria Bamford, who both have shows at The Den this fall , and Chelsea Handler, who makes a stop at the Chicago Theater Oct. 27-28.
As always, the fall will include plenty of local talent to enjoy, including the inaugural 312 Comedy Festival beginning Oct. 27. It also offers opportunities to catch some high-profile acts, some of whom are embarking on rare tours — Iliza Shlesinger’s stop at the Chicago Theatre is already sold out; demand for Dave Chappelle’s current self-titled national tour has been steep enough to add a third night at the United Center .
