Tomball trailed early and came close to tying several times throughout the game before falling to Cy Woods 1-0 in the Region 2-6A bi-district round on Thursday evening, March 24, at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.“You want those moments back. …The fact that we just stayed in and kept fighting, I’m super proud of them for that,” Parsons said.
“Our district is like a playoff game every night,” Parsons said. “It’s pretty intense so I think that it gets us prepared and ready.”The Lady Cougars knew going in the bi-district round that it was going to be a battle, one that could have gone either way, Parsons said.Tomball’s biggest chance came with eight minutes left in the game when they got as many as three cracks at tying off a corner kick, but nothing got past Cy Woods goalkeeper Erica Jimenez.
The team also suffered a few season- and career-ending injuries throughout the year, Parsons said, including sophomore midfielder Karly Gershon and freshman forward Tatum Greensage. There were six of them in goalkeeper Cameron Andreini, forward Morgan Greensage, defender Anna Montgomery, Grace Lowe, Taylor Cromack and midfielder Giselle Lobos.“They’re three senior captains, leaders off and on the field, a few of them have been four-year starters,” Parsons said. “They mean everything.”
